Todd Whatley

CELA, LL.M Elder Law
Todd Whatley, CELA Todd Whatley, Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA), grew up in central Arkansas, inspired by his mother—a nurse in a psychiatric hospital—whose compassion for helping others shaped his own desire to serve. At just 14, Todd became certified in CPR and later pursued a degree in physical therapy, specializing in athletic rehabilitation. His transition into home health care introduced him to working with older adults, sparking a lifelong passion for senior care. In 1994, Todd attended law school and graduated in 1998. Soon after, he discovered Elder Law—a field that perfectly aligned with his mission to protect seniors from losing everything to healthcare costs. Over the years, he has guided thousands of families through essential planning, from powers of attorney to complex Medicaid and asset protection strategies. Todd became a Certified Elder Law Attorney and went on to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Elder Law Foundation (NELF), where he later held the position of President. Today, he leads Generations Legal Group in Bentonville, Arkansas—a practice he rebranded in 2024—and also partners in a firm located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is licensed to practice law in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. With over 20 years of experience and more than 15,000 client meetings, Todd has expanded his impact through education and mentorship. He produces professional video series and coaching programs for attorneys nationwide, helping both new and experienced Elder Law professionals build thriving, purpose-driven practices. Todd remains deeply committed to his clients and colleagues alike—helping families secure care without losing their savings, and empowering attorneys to find fulfillment and financial success in their work.
